Baksun Sung is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology. He earned his bachelor's degree in health administration in a South Korean institution and master of public health degree in behavioral social, and community health at Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington. He is working with Dr. So-Jung Lim, studying social inequality and population health. His research interests are sociology of health, social epidemiology, health promotion, and immigrant health related to substance abuse, opioids, marijuana, tobacco, alcohol, and obesity. He is conducting research on "the impact of acculturation and social cohesion on racial disparities in substance use (marijuana use and opioid use) focused on comparisons between the immigrant and native born in the United States." as a dissertation research. His approaches include secondary data analysis and quantitative research methods.
